Roastit Bubbly Jock's

Roastit Bubbly Jock's has made Scottish food sexy! Who'd have believed it possible. Informal dining has made it a particularly popular haunt for locals, so booking is essential Thursday through to Sunday.

I was particularly impressed by the fresh fish on offer and a fantastically sumptuous plate of scallops simply accompanied by a tasty yet unpretentious red pepper sauce provided a very credible starter. This was followed by a breast of pan fried duck which really was cooked to perfection. Whilst I was a little disappointed by my dessert of bread pudding (a tad stodgy for my liking), my wife's dessert was a simple chocolate brownie which oozed charm and really hit the spot.

The menu is always handwritten and changes daily—always a positive sign when looking for fresh, seasonal dishes, and the 'bring your own booze' policy allows budget diners to have a great night out without breaking the bank. (£2 corkage per bottle of wine).

Roastit Bubbly's offers a marvellous dining experience—food is thoughtfully put together and served in hearty portions with the emphasis on quality Scottish ingredients.
