Little John's

Little John's is a classic New York-style deli, and specializes in sandwich combos. Located at "the Corner" near University of Virginia, it has been catering to campus lunch appetites and late-night cravings since the mid-1970s.

Comfortable, although a tad noisy, the deli is a great place to pick up on local gossip or just read the paper over the turkey-and-sprout-heavy Blue Max, the club-and cole slaw-inspired Five Easy Pieces, or the monstrous Sampson and its 12 glorious inches of roast beef, turkey, horseradish mayo, and thousand island dressing.

Little John's is a favorite of mine every time I visit Charlottesville.
