Description: This restaurant is beautifully decorated in a sort of contemporary Asian decor. The cathedral ceiling and large doors open on all sides to the patio, and soft island breezes give the room a large open feeling while the furniture, an eclectic mix of dark woods, wicker, and subdued patterned fabrics, makes the space feel warm and inviting. The focal point of the room is a large palm tree rising to the apex of the cathedral ceiling. The tree is imposing but balanced well by the long, sheer burnt orange curtains that frame each doorway and sway invitingly in the breeze.
However, while the decorator did a great job on the aesthetic value, our one complaint was that the chairs were not particularly comfortable and the tables had a large center support that made it difficult to find a place for your feet.
Now on to the food! The appetizers were incredible. I had the shrimp gazpacho, which turned out to have a perfect consistency and balanced flavor. It didn't taste like cold tomato soup, as gazpacho so often can. The duck egg roll was also good.
For the main course, I had the fish special of sea bass stuffed with crab meat. It was also incredibly good; I cleaned my plate! I can't remember what everyone else in our party had, but we all got something different and no one complained.
Dessert was the real high point here, though! The sticky toffee pudding was to die for! Several members of our party are not "dessert people," but everyone loved this dessert. I am very much a dessert person, but I can't even remember the other desserts we had because this one was so good.
To sum it up, the atmosphere was elegant but casual; we didn't get any dirty looks when we brought the baby in. The service was not excellent but acceptable. It was pricey, but the food was top-notch and I would definitely go back!
