Duffy's Tavern at Lake George

31 April 2006 we were driving south on I-87 to New York, almost wrapping up our trip to Canada. It was nice and sunny and almost 75°F. We had to stop at the US border at Champlain, New York and pass through the immigration that almost took an hour. We started driving down. The landscape in upstate New York is just fantastic. A traffic-free highway with lakes, hills, and pine trees on either side. The drive was fun and less stressful. As we were driving, we saw the traffic signs for Lake George and I remembered the tragic boat accident that happened on 2 October 2005 where 20 senior citizens died. We decided to stop by to have lunch there.

As we entered the small town of Lake George, we felt relaxed and excited. The town was nice and clean. Blue Lake George was sparkling in the bright daylight. We parked in front of this eating and drinking emporium called Duffy’s Tavern that looks old and ugly from outside, but inside it is totally different.

Grilled tuna sandwich was that day’s special which was served with French fries. I ordered a well-done steak with onion rings, French fries and salad. Steak was tender and juicy and obviously tasty. Tuna sandwich also looked tempting. We enjoyed our hearty lunch with a mesmerizing view of Lake George on a bright and summer like day.

We decided to hit the road after spending almost 2 hours at Lake George. We are also planning for a visit there sometime this summer for camping since this place is very famous for activities like that.
