On the morning of October 17, 2005, we got the kids up a little early so we could have breakfast with Mickey. The restaurant is located inside the Contemporary Resort on the fourth floor. When we arrived there was only one other family in front of us, but the restaurant was already packed with people. While we waited for our table a Disney photographer took a family photo of us and directed us to the line in which we could meet Goofy. Goofy was the only character who was not visiting the tables, instead he stayed in the center of the restaurant so you could visit him.
We knew this was going to be a great experience when we walked past a handful of characters and saw that our table was right next to a window that overlooked the Magic Kingdom. Chip was the first character to join us at the table and he was more than happy to spend a couple minutes with the kids before posing for a couple photos and signing their autograph books. No sooner did Chip leave the table and Minnie surprised us with a visit. This was our daughter’s first trip to Disney and she has never met Minnie before and seeing her face light up as Minnie approached the table was priceless.
We dined on a bountiful breakfast buffet ($17.99 for Adults, $9.99 for Children ages 3-9) of three different omelets, bacon, sausage, hash, pancakes and waffles in the shape of Mickey himself. While we ate our breakfast Pluto, Mickey and Dale visited our table and what made their visits memorable, was the attention that they showed the kids rather than just signing their books and walking away.
We left Chef Mickey’s at 8:58 am with our belly’s full and having seen each character at least twice. Other than a great meal and a superb character experience, the one thing that convinced me this was the place to have breakfast, was the line to get in: that now had more than thirty people waiting in it.

Dinner is different. There will be some similarities to other buffets, but they will usually offer their own unique food. Chef Mickey's is no exception. The food here is more down-to-earth and kid-friendly than some of the other buffets. Usually two kinds of pasta dishes are served, with two kinds of meats (usually prime rib and ham) and potatoes. There will also be a couple of other dishes that vary, along with a full salad bar and usually two soups. The kid's buffet is also pleasing to the appetite: macaroni and cheese, cheese pizza, mini hot dogs, and chicken fingers (they are the ones served in the parks and probably the best value considering you pay almost $7 for three in the parks). There is also a dessert buffet that features several cakes, puddings, cookies, sugar free desserts, and a make-your-own sundae station.
Do not let the price scare you away (children: $9 breakfast/$11 dinner; adults: $17 breakfast/ $26 dinner), as the character buffets are probably the best value at Disney. Not only do you get to dine with and get pictures and autographs from the characters, but you also get an excellent all-you-can-eat buffet (the buffets at Disney probably have the best food and the nicest atmosphere of any buffet in Orlando, and probably Florida). When you consider what you would pay per person at a regular sit-down restaurant in Disney ($15 to $30 for adults and $10 to $20 for children), the buffet really makes sense, and trust me, it will be much more memorable than going to the food court or a regular restaurant in Disney or elsewhere.
As far as Chef Mickey's goes, it is the best character buffet in Disney and the most kid-friendly, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Call 407/WDW-DINE for priority seating (this is not a reservation; it simply reserves your place in line). At Chef Mickey's, priority seating is an absolute must, although it is not required. Call as soon as possible to make arrangements and do not be surprised if the only thing available is at 8or 9pm, because the restaurant is extremely popular.

I have four children: 7, 12, 14, and 15, and each had a blast. The all-you-can-eat food bar is 100 feet long, so you won't go away hungry. Pictures are taken with Chef Mickey as you enter and are ready for purchase before you leave your table.
You can watch the monorail run through the contemporary hotel right above your head as you eat your meal, and then you can get on the monorail to go to Disney Magic Kingdom or any other park at Disney. Your children will love this part. If you get in the monorail line early, go to the very front and ask the attendant if the children can "drive the monorail". Up to four people can ride up front with the monorail driver.

The food is excellent. It is served buffet style which includes just about anyting anyone would want to eat - seafood, prime rib, chicken fingers, etc. Be sure to try the dessert section as it has lots of Mickey's favorites.
One other special feature about this restaurant at the Contemporary Resort is the "celebration" time with the characters. The restaurant plays music and the characters dance, sing and wave napkins around in the air along with the restaurant patrons.
We have also been to Chef Mickey's for breakfast and was also impressed with the food and entertainment quality. This is our family's favorite thing to do on our many trips to WDW!

Fulton's Crab House at Downtown Disney was superb. We like good seafood, and although it's not "fancy", the quality of the seafood was very high. The fish and the shrimp were both extremely flavorful and fresh. It's a huge place, you'll need to either make reservations or get your name on the list, which we did, then we enjoyed Downtown Disney for an hour while we waited for our "buzzer" to go off. BTW, it's quite pricey, about $100 for two w/drinks.
Although this isn't in my title, we went to O'Hana's at the Polynesian and it was awful. Expensive, overcooked, and tasteless. The service is good, but it just didn't help make up for really, really bad food.
