This restaurant was recommended by a fellow guide, and we decided to give it a shot after seeing the Red Sox game.
Moon Under Water is located at the Pier, the waterfront district of Tampa. Parking is across the street at a park on the bay. When we got into the restaurant, we were told we could sit on the porch or wait for inside seating. We chose to sit on the porch.
The porch had a Hemingway-in-the-Caribbean look to it that I liked, but Todd and Erika thought that and the clientele were hoity-toity. Looking to try out new things again, Erika chose the beef curry, and I chose the chicken takhi curry. Todd played it safe by having more dead cow (steak). I had hummus with pita bread as an appetizer, and it was fine.
Our food arrived with our not-very-talkative waitress, and Erika and I didn't know what to make of our curries. They didn't look too appealing, with tons of sauce drowning the rice and meat. I said it looked like something the dogs do in our yard and I pick up on a weekly basis. Todd's steak looked pretty good, and Erika and I wished we had gotten something safe. Erika couldn't eat half of her curry, and I ate a little more of mine and ate Todd's mushrooms from his plate.
At the ballpark, they have a promotion that if Tampa Bay gets 10 hits in a game, the crowd gets a free burrito from a local restaurant. I believe Todd, Erika, and I wish we had taken them up on the burrito offer. Oh, well!
The lack of service, bad food, and hoity-toitiness made this experience not so fun. They were like Elizabeth II while Erika, Todd, and I are more like Ozzy Osbourne! On the way out of the restaurant, a couple of local guys saw Erika's Curt Schilling shirt and asked who won the game. It was so sweet telling these D-Ray fans that our boys kicked their butts 11-3. It was the best part of the meal!
