The Newtown area of Sydney is littered with a wide variety of ethnic restaurants including Indian, Thai, and Chinese. The best bargain in the neighborhood is the North Indian Diner on King Street in the heart of Newtown. For A$4.50 you can get any three vegetarian entrees with rice. Meat dishes are slightly more expensive. Excellent appetizers include somosa's and the sweet kashmiri naan. The atmosphere at the North Indian Diner is very casual and the location is great for people-watching
