AMP Tower

This is the perfect way to see Sydney and experience a variety of local cuisine. In the rotating tower restaurant you can sample delicacies like kangaroo, pumpkin soup, emu, camel, cheeses and wines. The 360-degree view of Sydney and its outlying areas is fantastic. A photographer will take a picture of your table for a price. The buffet is all-you-can-eat. Definitely worth the money and time--dinner takes about 1.5 hours.

Amp Tower

We booked a table over the Internet from the UK and received confirmation of the booking via email. When we got to the restaurant, though, there was no booking, but they had a table available.

The views are spectacular, but the food was very poor. The tables are exceptionally small and badly lit. In the 2 weeks we spent in Sydney, this was the only place that that was a disappointment.

Getting the Spins at the Sydney Tower Restaurant

The Sydney Tower Restaurant is located at the top of the Centrepoint tower. I had dinner at Level One, which is the name of the A La Carte restaurant. There is also a self-select restaurant (which is what many call a buffet), available on another level, which I did not visit.

The menu at Level One is comprehensive, and includes regional specialties such as Australian game and crocodile, along with the more commonly found fare, like steaks and pasta dishes.

As you sit down, you can't help but notice the incredible view, which you'll get to experience from all angles, as you slowly spin 360 degrees each 70 minutes during dinner. One hint for the ladies...be careful where you put your handbag. If you try to put it on the windowsill, it may (or may not) still be there by the time you realize it's missing...because you'll have moved, and the window doesn't come along for the ride.

The food seemed average, but it's not really the food you're paying for with that $50 AUD food minimum per person...it's the view, so enjoy the drinks and get the spins at Sydney Tower Restaurant!

Sydney AMP Tower Revolving Restaurant

Sydney AMP Tower Revolving Restaurant

The AMP tower is 304 meters tall and has a huge mall at the bottom. At the top, is a revolving retaurant where you can get a 3 course meal or a buffet dinner.

Once you enter the tower, you'll go to a booth where they check your reservation and then you'll be ushered to one of the elevators (or lifts)where you take your 40 second ride to the top of the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere.

At the top, you enter the dimly lit revolving restaurant. The view of the city is breath-taking at night. The center contains a full course buffet with appetizers, dinner, and dessert. The food is decent, but not great. You are paying for the location and view.

The night we were there, our appetizers included Chinese food such as peking ravioli and Thai food such as satay. The main meal included kangaroo, emu, ham, turkey, roast beef, fish, vegetables, salads, and soup. Dessert included fruit, jello, a wide array of cakes, and of course coffee. After an hour or so, we were starting to get a little bit of motion sickness and decided to leave.
