Cafe Wahoo

The best dining experience while on our vacation. (At the new location in downtown St. John's Island). After long day sightseeing, we were seated at a balcony table for two overlooking the bay. We experienced a glorious sunset. The food was excellent in both flavors and presentation. The chef did a great job of combining local island cuisine with a continental flare. Service was great. The total bill might get a little expensive for a large family, but for a small party it was well worth the price.

Red Hook, at the east end of St. Thomas about 15-20 minutes from Charlotte Amalie, has several restaurants; Cafe Wahoo is one of the best of them. Set right on a dock, the open-air seating lets you get a glimpse of St. John which is just 15 minutes away by ferry. The food is very good; try the boullabaise, with wahoo, shrimp, and mussels in a lobster bisque. Entrees range from about $14 to $28 (unless you're getting the lobster, which varies by season). The wait staff can be a little chilly.
