"Venga! Venga! Senor, aqui aqui, la mejor de Valparaiso!" you will hear as the restaurant owners try and counter each other with a much wiser and more enticing advertisement that the next guy. I didn't know there could be so many "best" restaurants in one town, but they all claim to be just that at the Mercado Central. On the second floor of the market is where you will find all of the restaurants. There is a plethora to choose from, and everyone will say they are the cheapest and the best with the most specials, but really, you cannot go wrong with one over the other. They all pretty much serve the same thing and have amazing specials for around $3. For $3, you get a full-course seafood lunch about as good as you will find anywhere. Granted, this is not a five-star restaurant, but it is a great bargain in a lively atmosphere and more culture intertwined than you will get anywhere else. If not here, then you must experience at least one Mercado Central while traveling in Chile (there is one in pretty much every city, since the whole country is so close to the ocean).
