One of the best, sliced ice looks like snow flakes, and they add all sorts of stuff on it: fruit, jelly, beans, syrup, juices, you name it.
Taiwan grows great mangos. Mango ice is one of the most famous ones, and the one on Yong-Kang Street is simply the best in town.
Sliced ice is a lifesaver in the summer, but you should try it even if you're visiting during the winter.

Don't tell people you've been to Taipei if you did not visit this place. This is the biggest night market in Taipei. You will wish you had a bigger stomach (like the Japanese in the July 4 Hotdog eating competition).
The Night Market could be divided into several sections. One of them is the Chinese herbal cuisine section. You can try the very special herbal soup on that very street.
On the other side, you will find some real Taiwanese food. If you have a small stomach, here are something you must try:
1. that huge sausages (I mean really huge, it should be considered as a family meal)
2. fried chicken fillet
3. stewed pork organs (must try! You might think it's for Fear Factor, but they taste like paradise)
4. steamed dumplings/buns (of heaven)
5. stinky Tofu
6. sliced ice
This is the real Taipei food. You should try everything you see. Besides the food, you can buy some cheap but nice stuff there. This is one of my favorite spots in Taipei.
