What a wonderful find this was. We just managed to slip in before they stopped serving lunch and we were delighted with what we had. From the lemonade which was served in tall pedestal glasses to the breadbasket filled with yeasty, crispy crusted bread and flatbread and butter with orange rind in it, everything here was first class. The tables are covered with real tablecloths and have cloth napkins and from our seat in the atruim the view to the sculpture garden is just an unexpected bonus.
I had the Grilled Veggie and Hummus Sandwich. This behumouth was served on focaccia bread and included grilled zucchini, yellow squash, onions and roasted peppers with hummus on one side and basil aioli on the other. The aoili added a spicy touch and the hummus made it creamy and moist, on the side of the plate I had a small salad which had filed greens, dried cranberries and raspberry vinaigrette. My husband had the Cafe Sub which had salami, ham and turkey on french bread with provolone and a herb dressing plus a side salad. Our friend had the Cobb Salad #2 which had grilled chicken, bacon, hard boiled egg, gorgonzola cheese, olives, grilled tomatoes, asparagus and sprouts over field greens with an avocado vinaigrette. The portions were huge and the quality was excellent. We had sorbet for dessert and went away with our stomachs full and our outlooks bright. Our waitress Kay was friendly and efficient and our lemonade glasses were filled as soon as they were empty.
