The food in Paris is great. Fast food--McDonald's, Burger King, and loads of small kebab and crepe takeaways, is all over the place. I would recommend the crepes (a pancake filled with anything you want) filled either with ham and cheese or banana and Nutella. For a cheap meal and a few beers, any of the Turkish places have good food, cheap cans of beer, and bottles of wine.

There are pubs everywhere in Paris, and, by day, most of them will do food. This is handy if you want a reasonably priced meal with a universal menu (steak, chicken, etc.). It's worth travelling a little out of the city center on the Metro, where everything is a little cheaper and there is a little more craic.

If you want something fancy, put on a shirt and go the whole hog. A good meal can cost as little €10  to €15 and have no upper limit. You will be given a huge choice of French food, including frog legs, snails, and rabbit, and I would recommend trying them all.
