In Ljubjana, and all the other former Yugoslav cities, you'll find stands selling a greasy, pastry called 'burek.' They come in two styles: 'cheese' and 'meat.' Despite my suggestions that a meat and cheese combo burek might revolutionize the industry, none of the vendors in Ljubjana seem willing to try. Nevertheless, bureks are a tasty alternative for budget minded travellers not interested in McDonald's (Ljubjana now has 3.)
