Lima Vegetarian Dining

Description

Vegan food is quite difficult to find in Lima, as is a Diet Coke (or Coke Light) that doesn't taste awful. I had two cans of Diet Coke left from the flight that I made last for three days. I would have paid $100 for a can of Diet Coke on this trip. The most popular drinks are the strangely yellow Inca Kola and the red Kola Ingles. I did not try either one, but you can find them everywhere. Moving on, the best meal option is to nibble of different fruits and crackers from the little markets found up and down the streets near the major tourist attractions. The likelihood of finding a strictly vegan hot cooked meal in Lima is very slim - everything is made with meat stock or dairy products. Get used to "chiefles," plantain chips - the best ones are made by Frito Lay. Don't miss the great homemade lemonade from the street vendors.
