Unfortunately I was with my friend Richie (or as he wanted to be known while in France, Riccardo). I started with a Noix de Saint-Jacques en coque (scallops 20 euros) Dinner was a tasty Filet de boef aux girolles sur sa ratatouille (43 euros). I don't remember the wine but it was fantastic all week. You always had a choice of local Savoyard wines or those from elsewhere in France.
After dinner an old friend stopped by for a drink. Earlier in the day while checking my e-mail at a cyber cafe I had run into Luise, the former bartender at the Papagayo restaurant in St. Martin. (See my other journals on St. Martin). She suggested a local drink called a Genepe. It is a delightful liquor made of local herbs. (see photo) It is said to aid in digestion.
