I have died and gone to omelette heaven! No, wait, it was just Camille's. Hiding off the main drag on Simonton Street, Camille's is pink, quirky, and "Camille-licious," as one server is fond of saying. This is my favorite place for a brunch, bar none. Key West, lending itself to nights of revelry and days of relaxation, should only naturally have a place where you can get delicious, wholesome breakfast foods long after the local roosters crow. Whether you're dragging in after a night on Duval or just stopping by for a quick lunch, there is something on the menu to please your tummy.
My favorite thing to eat thus far would be one of Camille's fantastic omelettes. The possibilities are many, as you may choose the simple cheese variety or enjoy a tasty combination like salmon and leek. Each generous egg creation is served with your choice of toast, and we're not talking just white or wheat. Pumpernickel, rye, and even sourdough are among the choices. Wash that down with a nice cup of coffee or a delicious juice selection and you ought to be ready for another day in paradise.
At lunchtime I have had the tremendous pleasure of sampling the chicken salad. It is made in-house and and can be served a variety of ways. I chose to pair a chicken salad sandwich with the smoked Gouda and ham soup, and that was an incredible way to fuel my afternoon. Had I been in private, I might have licked the bowl!
The atmosphere at Camille's reflects the quirky character of Key West. The interior of the restaurant is bright and cheerful, with an eye-catching assortment of unique art. Where else can you see bondage Barbie all dressed up for Fantasy Fest? Moms and Dads may want to keep the kids in the front dining room and sneak a peek later. The staff is very friendly and always willing to explain anything on the menu. I always feel welcome when I arrive and very satisfied when I leave. The food is just out-of-this-world delicious!

They say they serve, "exotic family cooking with no boundaries," and I would have to agree that that about sums it up. I've only ever eaten breakfast at Camille's, but it is so fabulous that I have to stop in there every visit. The corn meal, blueberry, and pecan pancakes are divine, not to mention creative. The cafe con leche and Cuban toast are as traditional as it gets for South Florida, but equally as tasty as the exotic specialties. Camille's is a must for anyone’s visit to Key West!
