On a busy street in the marina area of San Franciso, Bistro Aix offers a quality alternative to the mix of lower-end fare and high-end snobbish places in the area.
Bistro Aix has two rooms. The up-front one, with views and the bar, has some smaller, quiet tables. In the back are some larger, louder tables. Sit in the front.
The service was just right. The waiter knew everything about the menu and offered quality wine pairings. The food was solid, with great presentation and an excellent quality to the ingredients. The tastes were all just unique enough for each bite to be an experience, even if none of the individual dishes were outstanding.
The only criticism would be the portion size. It was just a bit too small, so that after an appetizer and entrée each, my dining partner and I were only barely full. I don't need to gorge, but feed me a tad more! Overall, it was a good place. I'll probably hit a few others around the area, but would try Bistro Aix again anytime.
