Asia de Cuba

Located in the up and coming Puerto Maderno district, which consists of renovated warehouses, Asia de Cuba is a fantastic fusion of Asian and Cuban fare. We were five single friends on a lark, in Buenos Aires for a long weekend, and Asia de Cuba was our best find. It had been recommended by my roommate who was brought here a month previously by clients in Buenos Aires. In the land of beef, sushi and mojitos were a nice change of pace...although beef was definitely on the menu!

We arrived at 10:30PM ... and we were early. Not sure whether I had been led astray by my roommate, we decided to stay - and by 11:00 the restaurant started filling up. By midnight it was rocking! There are bars at either end of the space, and cavernous Balinese hand-carved wooden beds littered around traditional dining tables and chairs. The theme works great, with a fusion of both food and music. As the restaurant is all one seating, tables and chairs on the dancefloor were removed as customers finished their meal. By 1:00 the place had completely transformed into a club. During the transformation process, belly dancers (not quite Asian or Cuban - but never questioned) came around to each table and danced. It was definitely an exotic evening.

We had a great time and would highly recommend Asia de Cuba. With a strong US dollar, it was VERY inexpensive ($150 for five people: three course meal, tips, and about five hours of heavy drinking).
