Located along the main strip of the theme park Silver Dollar City, this restaurant is a must see for those who aren't claustraphobic. As you enter this wonderful rendition of a mine, you descend through a 'mine tunnel' and enter a buffet line. The fare is reasonably priced at $7.95 per person (kids 12 and under $4.95 with children 3 and under free). The food was wonderful, rivaling many of the other franchise buffet restaurants. For those of you who love beef stew, it's homemade! Fried chicken and fried okra were also on the menu, but I didn't partake in either item. I was too busy with the ribs and salad. The peach cobbler for dessert is a must as well.
The waitress we had was truly a professional. We were seated beside the waterfall that had a real mining car (or at least it looked real) located in the center. We ate from metal plates, and drank from metal cups. Though the cups were small, there is an unlimited supply of drink and my cup was never empty. The entire party really enjoyed our meal. If you choose to go to Silver Dollar City (and if you have kids you won't be able to resist) you must make The Mine Restaurant one of you mealtime destinations.
