Southside 815 Restaurant

This is my favorite restaurant in Alexandria. They serve delicious Southern cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. One half of the building is a bar with many televisions, so you can watch a game or have a drink before or after dinner. The other side is a cozy restaurant perfect for a date or a group of friends.

The food is fantastic. The Boardinghouse Breadbasket comes with a variety of breads, but the best are the sweet-potato biscuits – be sure to smother them with the apple butter! The best dessert is the 815 biscuits - crab and Virginia ham in country gravy served over sweet potato biscuits. For dinner, check out the low-country shrimp and sausage (shrimp and chorizo sausage in tasso ham gravy over cheddar cheese grits) or the pecan chicken breast (chicken coated in chopped pecans with mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese grits, and greens). They also have great po’boy sandwiches (even crawfish!) and juicy burgers.

See their menu at their website: Southside 815.
