this hip little spot sits right in the face of the ultra-modern pompidou center. seating is outside (café style) for excellent people watching, weather permitting, or inside on one of two levels. the inside seating is banquette style or large comfortable chairs, and bookcases on the walls give it a warm-ish touch. in all honesty, i think this place is a hair pretentious, but it's a great place to meet up with people because it's easy to locate (facilitating making plans to meet somewhere), fairly central, and has good coffee. also, their lighter fare is excellent. i normally get the roquette salad with parmesan, and the bread that comes with it is typically frenchily wonderful. also typically french is the service, which is predictably haughty and not nearly as attentive as the servers would have you think they are going to the pains to be, but, if you can get past that, it's a nice little place.
