We were not impressed with the food at the main buffet-style restaurant on site. It was very open-air and most of the food was not that hot to start with, so it was cold almost immediately once you sat down to eat. Good thing the guy trying to sell us a timeshare picked up the tab on that one!

Tumtah Mariscos

So that we could dine and watch the sunset, we decided to check out the Tumtah restaurant at the resort. We did not make reservations and had no problem getting a great seat.

We both had beer and paella. There was a mention that it was paella night. However, the waiter didn't seem to know that. I asked for the paella without the meat, only seafood. They were happy to oblige; however, it was very dry. The waiters never return to your table to see how your meal is. The tortilla chips with the salsa and verde sauce was great. Don't mistake the verde sauce for guacamole. Verde sauce is hot.

Tramonto Restaurant is located in the Mayan Palace resort in Acapulco. Their specialty is seafood. The lobster was excellent! This is an open air restaurant with a wonderful view of the ocean.

At this restaraunt, you could order off the menu or they had a themed buffet every night. The food was pretty good, but not for the price. The buffet was $21 per person, which does not include the drinks. The good thing about it is that it was at the resort and a lot more convenient than going to town.

Mayan Palace

All of the restaurants at the Mayan Palace were fabulous. Prices varied. The most expensive restaurant was Cha'n Kah Gourmet Restaurant. We saved this restaurant for our last night. The meal was four courses and you just picked what you wanted from a pre-selected menu. The food was terrific and the cost of food plus two bottles of wine was around 600 pesos, which is around $60 US. We made a reservation for 1800 and asked for Table #1. We had a beautiful view of the sunset, or last before heading home the next day.

The Bakal Cafe had a themed buffet every night. Cost was around 200 pesos per person. The food was great and it was all-you-can-eat. We went for the Italian buffet and the food was great! The Tum-tah Restaurant offered fresh seafood and other Mexican treats! The food was great, whatever restaurant you went to...even the pool snack/bar Balche had a great club sandwich and happy hour was 1600 - 1700 every day! No need to head into downtown when you have such great food nearby.
