We found this restaurant just wandering along the beach, looking for a place to have breakfast with our feet in the sand. It’s at the south end of the boardwalk, right on the beach. It looks like a little hole and the sign even says, "I dare you to come in," so we did. We were the first ones there; they were just opening, so we got our pick of front-row tables along the beach. My husband speaks Spanish pretty well, but the waiter talked so fast that even he couldn't understand him, but he was a very nice guy. We each had an omelet, hash browns, orange juice, coffee, and toast for $13, including tip! And it was sooo good, the best hash browns I’ve ever had!! We were very excited to find this place, but bummed we couldn’t eat there every day, since we were staying in Nuevo Vallarta.
Our last night in town, we were looking for a place to have a good Mexican meal, even asking a couple of people we had met over the week, but we ended up at Burros Bar. I was kind of nervous, since we had only had breakfast there. We sat down and found out that there was a special for margaritas and beers, so of course we ordered them! As soon as the waiter left, a woman sitting at the table next to ours came over and told us that they had eaten there almost every day and gave us her recommendations. We were relieved to know they had repeat customers! We started with all-meat nachos, which were very good. Then my husband and I shared a combo plate of an enchilada, a chile relleno, a steak taco, and a burrito! Tons of food! Even our kids liked their meals, my daughter having a steak (from the kid’s menu) and son having an enchilada from his grandma’s plate. The portions are huge, and the price was about $13 for most dinners, with a free margarita included.
We watched a beautiful sunset with our feet in the sand, drinking margaritas and enjoying our last night in Mexico. My mom and son went for a walk in the waves before dinner, and my mom bought this really cute woven hat from some vendors.,P>
If you’re looking for a totally laid-back Mexican restaurant on the beach, Los Burros Bar is the place!
