Continental Plaza Restaurant

Dining in Mexico is rather cheap if you don' eat at the timeshare resorts. Of course, you must watch what you eat and drink. Drink only bottled water, and don't eat any fresh vegetables since they may be washed in water. Bottled water is plentiful since most businesses already know that tourists don't handle their water too well. Menus are in pesos and not dollars, so don't be surprised to see $400.00 on your final bill. It really means 400 pesos, which tranlates to about 40 U.S. dollars. The Mayan Palace is quite a ways from town, so we ate at the resort a lot. But when we did go into town, we ate at the Continental Plaza restaurant. For 400 pesos, we got a huge buffet for the three of us and all the bottled water you want. Most restaurants accept American money also.
