Red Knapp's Dairy Bar

This is an original sock-hop type of diner right on Main Street in downtown Rochester. Knapp's Dairy Bar isn't just a restaurant, it is an institution. Even today, while I was there with my daughter, I wondered how many thousands of teenage girls have worn the red polo shirt uniforms and dished up malts and seasoned fries and burgers over the years. A couple in their 40’s had their picture taken with their son at the curved counter when I walked in; it was where the couple had met when they were in high school.
