Cafe Nervosa, a quaint, two-level restaurant in the heart of Toronto's Yorkville district, is a great spot to stop for a romantic lunch in the middle of a shopping day. The decor is cozy; it combines old wooden charm with a cheeky leopard print theme. The food and wine are fantastic.
For $12.95 CDN, I had a wonderful salad of mesclun mix lettuce, grilled chicken and portobello mushrooms, sundried tomatoes and goat cheese in a delicious balsamic reduction. My dining companion had, for $13.95, a heaping plate of pasta, spinach, and chicken in a white wine cream sauce. At $8.50 a glass, the Australian Shiraz hit the spot.
Service was adequate bordering on inattentive. The food and decor, on a rainy Valentine's Day afternoon, more than made up for this.
