First, this restaurant has re-opened for business post-hurricane, so if you want to have some of the finest New Orleans cuisine, you are in luck! The gentleman who owns, serves, and cooks for this establishment makes you feel like family. Although the food is expensive, it isn't too bad as kosher restaurants go, and trust me, it's worth every penny.

I would recommend the jambalaya--because if you are kosher (or even "kosher lite"), you can't get anything even close to this anywhere else in the city. It is an experience not to be missed. I also had the veal tongue, which was spectacular. The Andouille sausage is to live for, so spring for it as an appetizer.

Creole Kosher Kitchen is within walking distance of all the tourist areas of the quarter, so drop by and eat something before you go drinking!

Gideon, the owner/chef, is great. His family is great. His homemade sausage in his gumbo is great. His rosemary chicken is great. I ate there three times, and he introduced me to his wife and three kids, all really friendly and with ready smiles. He moved here to Chartres Street and the Quarter, I think, 20 years ago and has done really well for himself.

It's a comfortable, not huge, restaurant. I think there are six, maybe seven tables, and all have views of the kitchen. But that means you never have to wait long for a refill on your drink, right?
