Fresh Seafood in Covent Garden

Fresh Seafood in Covent Garden

Loch Fyne is a chain of seafood restaurants around the U.K. We went to the one in Covent Garden, London for an evening meal but in the end, neither of us actually had any seafood though that's their specialty. We're from the east coast in Canada so we can get nice, fresh seafood any time we like! Loch Fyne classes themselves as an Oyster bar but they have a good variety of seafood, from fish to shellsfish. They don't have very many non-fish/seafood dishes other than a few salads and a couple of other entrees. We both had the sausage and mash with red onion gravy which was delicious. There are even fewer choices for vegetarians, just one pasta dish and a couple of salads. Mashed potatoes or chips or side orders of veg, as well.

Having said that, if you like fish or seafood, they are very good. The restaurant was mainly rows of tables close-ish together.

Prices are not really that bad, they do have a few higher priced items but most main dishes are between 10 and 15 pounds and the set price was only 12 pounds which is very reasonable and includes 2 courses and a side dish. Starters average 5-6 pounds.

Loch Fyne

It's always an affordable delight, this restaurant. I put a safe average for a dinner price in the price range section, but if you want to pop in for some mussels with chilli and coriander, you can do so for less than most other restaurants in the West End. The service is always brisk and extremely friendly, the menu is diverse, and the seafood is fresh, as the restaurant's name might suggest. Of particular note are the daily specials and oysters and mussels, my favourite being the latter with chilli and coriander. It’s a very popular restaurant, especially considering its location in Theatreland, but reservations aren't essential, although strongly recommended.
