This little downtown Des Plaines diner across from the Metra stop has been family-owned 1921. Breakfast is served all day and includes big, fluffy omelettes served with toast and potatoes. My friend likes to get the Gypsy skillet with potatoes, eggs, cheese and bacon. There is a Greek flair to the lunch and dinner menu with daily specials that include soup or salad and a roll. The chicken breast stuffed with spinach and feta is tasty. Chicken soup tends to be heavy on the soggy noodles. The meatloaf will leave you with some nasty garlic breath. It's a bit of a throwback to the 50s or 60s, but service is friendly and it is a good lunch spot during the week. There is limited parking in front or a large lot in the back.
