On Easter Sunday, we had Afternoon Tea at The Savoy. It was exceptional!
I highly recommend having Afternoon Tea if you are going to be in England just to be able to enjoy "proper English Tea". The Savoy was very lush and elegant. A definate treat! The hotel itself is beautiful. The dining room and service are very upscale. If you like to play dress up and enjoy and afternoon out, go to the Savoy.
There are many places you can have Afternoon Tea. Other hotels and resteraunts serve it. I have been told that there are three kinds of tea service so that one does not get confused. 1- Cream Tea, which is tea and scones with cream (clotted cream); 2 - Afternoon Tea, which is tea with finger sandwiches, petite fours, and scones with clotted cream; and 3- High Tea, which is afternoon tea with a hot entree as well.
My English friends have advised that if you are invited to Afternoon Tea but it is close to supper time to ask for clarification, as it might end up being High Tea, and a hot meal will be included.
