This is smack in the center of Sarria's main street. We got there just before 1pm, found the restaurant to be empty but followed the nearby construction workers in. It is a very nice tavern-like atmosphere, with hams hanging from the ceiling and wooden furniture. The entrance is decorated nicely with bright green tiles. The restaurant has been there since 1873!!!
We had menu of the day's...salad or a plate of green beans or stewed octopus (really good!), then for main course, paella or rabbit stew in beer (both were excellent) and for dessert, a kind of cheesecake with candied fruit (like Italian Nonna's Torte) or peached in wine. The menus were 950 pst each. What a deal. By the way, the place completely filled up after we sat down. I guess 1pm is when the stores close and kids get off school. Everyone was a local-you could say we stuck out like a sore thumb!
