Even if you are not vegetarian, I encourage you to not stop reading just yet. Possibly just like you, the first thing I thought when I found out ¡ecole! was a vegetarian restaurant was, "NO WAY--I need some meat." I will just say I'm glad I did turn and walk in the other direction from this unique find. All their dishes are vegetarian, but don't let that discourage you because I promise there is something for everyone. The restaurant is located in the hostel, although it feels more like a stylish, laid-back bed-and-breakfast. ¡ecole! is definitely the authentic local dig that you have been looking for, with its wooden interior and rustic furniture. Although located in the hostel, the restaurant is open to anyone. The price of a meal ranges from $5-15, and they are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

If you have a big appetite like me, do not be fooled into thinking vegetarian food will not fill you up just because there is no meat. ¡ecole! serves very generous portions, causing you to search for that little bit of extra room in the corner of your stomach that you never even knew existed, just to scarf down those last couple bites of food that you wouldn't dream of leaving on your plate. Their pancakes will definitely give you an incentive to get out of your bed in the morning and get you on your feet. Their lasagna is also great.

They also have a bar located next to the restaurant with couches, books, games, etc. ¡ecole! is a great place to meet other travelers, as it is always packed with people from around the world, each bringing his or her own interesting stories to the table. ¡ecole! is worth multiple visits for breakfast, lunch and dinner to try out their various specialties available throughout the day.
