Description: Ponchos Wrecks is hard to describe because they have a very eclectic menu. It runs from Mexican to steaks to seafood. The decor is strictly seafood with the tables made from what looked like old ships (in fact I got a splinter but just sucked it up). We went there because I wanted to get my older son some crab legs, since it's his favorite food and he was having a bad day.
The first thing we ordered was nachos. Now I don't mean to make a big deal of something like nachos but it amazes me how many restaurants get nachos wrong. They're cheap with the cheese, not hot enough, haphazardly made. These were the best nachos we ever had. Ever chip was covered in cheese, beans, chili. The cheese was bubbling. The ground meat was moist and flavorful. It was the start to a great meal. I ordered chicken and ribs and they came steaming out of the kitchen. The grilled chicken breast had those burnt edges that tells you this was recently near fire and not a microwave. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. My wife had a steak that looked like it was a Flintstone steak, it was so big. Even though it was huge, she said it was tender. My son was in bliss with his crab legs. The sangria was just right and not too sweet.
The service was very good. The waitress was cheerful, friendly, and very responsive to our needs. If you are like me, you try as many things as you can on vacation. The mark of a great restaurant experience on vacation is going back. We ate there three times, the food was so enjoyable. It wasn't haute cuisine, but it was good food well done. Highly recommended!
