The Keg Steakhouse is a Canadian-based restaurant chain. They have stateside locations in Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Considered a step down from Ruth’s Chris, The Keg has a variety of different cuts of of steaks, chicken, ribs, salads, and seafood. They have an extensive appetizer menu with choices like calamari and baked goat cheese. My favorite is the old standard, French onion soup. I love it here. They use a sourdough crouton and Swiss and Parmesan cheeses. SO sweet and cheesy. Fresh, hot bread is also served at every table.

Steak cuts include, sirloin, prime rib, filet mignon, New York, and rib steak. Meat temperatures range from blue rare which is cool, blue throughout, to Chicago style which is charred on the outside and cooked to order, inside.

Like Ruth’s Chris, The Keg also offers several side dishes for an extra cost. The cauliflower au gratin is not to be missed. Creamy and cheesy, this is my favorite of the sides. They also offer steamed asparagus, portabella and button mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and a couple others. The interior is classic steakhouse: rich, mahogany wood, white table cloths, fireplaces and soft lighting.

Unfortunately, I've never had a great steak here. Only mediocre. The soup is good and the sides are good, but the meat just isn't very tasty. I've given it 3 tries, and it's always the same outcome. A bland meal. It's a bummer because I had high hopes for the place. on a positive note, they do have an extensive list of martinis and those are good as well.
