When you go into the desert for the night (or several nights) you can look forward to eating like a king! Our guide made delicious bread in the sand by clearing away some hot embers, smoothing the hot sand over and then dropping the freshly made dough on the sand. He then covered the dough with hot embers and more sand. Thirty minutes later, bread! I helped cut the vegetables for the spicy North African stew that we made over the fire. The bread and the stew went perfect together, especially on a cold Christmas night. And for dessert in the desert, sweet green tea and fresh dates! Wonderful!
