We Love This Place!

My husband and I have been coming to this place for several years, sometimes a couple of times a week. We always bring out of town family and friends when they come from Michigan to the beach. It has become the favorite place for all of us!
We love the Blackend Tuna, Pan Fried Gouper with toasted almonds on top, and the Carribean Chicken. If you are looking for a great appetizer try the Blue Cheese Kettle Chips or BBQ Shrimp, both are wonderful.
We have always had very attentive service, regardless of what or how much we order. Sometimes in the summer we go just for a drink at the outside bar, such a great place to relax.
The staff and owner have always been friendly and open to questions or sugestions regarding the menu, even combining items for us from different entree's.
Perdido Key Oyster Bar

I tend not to give restaurants negative reviews if I have not eaten there but this will be an exception.
One evening while in Perdido Key, we questioned our condo staff regarding a local great place to get seafood that was not fishsticks posing as local seafood. (Yes, that does exist.) I was enthusiastically pointed toward Perdido Key oyster bar. Upon arrival, you can see that It is located above a marina but the inside of the restaurant is very nice and overlooks a bay. That is where the nice visit ended for myself and my family.
When we entered the door, the hostess was so rude that my entire family was shocked. She seemed to be mad that we decided to even show up there that evening and she argued with us regarding what seat we would like to take and then reluctantly sat us where we requested. The argument was surprising since the restaurant was completely empty. She practically threw our menus at us as we had a seat. I would not have been surprised had she given us the finger at that moment.
At this point my family ordered 3 teas and a water. The waitress seemed okay. It was somewhere between the order of our drinks, overlooking the menu (very overpriced food for the area weighed against the treatment of the hostess) and reeling from the treatment that we decided to leave. Coincidentally, my baby started feeling sick at that moment so we politely pushed in our chairs and got up to leave. My family went to the car while I hunted down the hostess to pay for our unarrived drinks (our drinks came to the table as I looked for the hostess). The hostess was very difficult to locate and the people at the bar were surprised when I had to go partially to the back of the house to find her since I had not seen her in 10 minutes or so. I offered to pay for the drinks- said that we needed to leave- the drinks were over 6 dollars- which she most certainly charged me for- and then we left. She asked not one question as to our departure and was still sporting a disgusted attitude. I probably would have talked to her about my experience except she was a little scary and my baby was in the car actually not feeling well.
I guess Perdido Key Oyster Bar can afford to have a witch as their hostess. Which is surprising since their restaurant loan for 1.5 million dollars is public record. For that kind of monthly payment- I would be at my restaurant night and day making sure we welcomed every guest kindly and hoping up to rack up a very nice bill.
So, based on the attitude of cruella the hostess alone- I do not recommend this restaurant.
A first impression is everything.

Perdido Key Oyster Bar

The Perdido Key Oyster Bar is a local favorite, though it is a little difficult to find (it's east of Perdido Key Drive before you reach the eastern Perdido Key bridge). Don't let the location of the restaurant fool you--it's above the marina sales office. This restaurant has a great beach atmosphere, and its positive reputation is well deserved. The seafood is consistently excellent and the service is usually good. The fried shrimp is my favorite and the seafood platter offers greater proportions than most restaurants.
