Eating while looking at the sea

In the old train station where Whale Watch has a counter, there is a little café. To me, the front counter looks like an espresso bar, and to start out, the café served pretty good coffee. On a diversion, throughout New Zealand the coffee is good, and they do specialize in serving espresso drinks such as latte, cappuccino, and mocha in bowls. But what it does well surprises me, for the café serves a mean crayfish, perfectly broiled, juicy and sweet. My traveling companions had fish, and they were just perfectly done as well. It is impressive for such a small cafe, and most pleasant because it happens when you least expect it.
But the best part about the café is neither the coffee nor the lunch menu. What is best is the view. You sit outside on the patio, with the view of the sea right in front of you, and in the horizon, a mountain range. It's a view to die for. There are several motels in the area, and if you have time, and the weather is not conducive to going out whale watching on the day you intended, what can be better than spending time sipping coffee and looking at a tumultous sea! I only regret not remembering the name of the cafe, but if you go to watch whales, it is the only cafe in the same old train station as Whale Watch Kaikoura's headquarter.
