El Erizo is a quaint, seaside restaurant that faces both the main street in Huanchaco and the beach. There are tables on a small patio out back, and you are generally free to move a table out onto the sand if you wish to be in the sun.
This is a family owned and run restaurant, serving typical seafood dishes from the coast of Peru. Ceviche is the most well-known dish: fresh fish marinated in lime juice and garlic, served on finely chopped onions over a bed of lettuce, with yucca, sweet potato and corn on the cob on the side.
They also serve a seafood soup called "Parihuela", full of delicacies from the sea.
Lunch is the best time to go, while the sun is still warm and there is activity. This is also the time for the main meal of the day in Peru. Evening finds the restaurant with little business and it often closes early.
