This place is a real novelty, all things considered. Scruffy Murphy's is a great Irish pub-themed restraunt that serves good Polish food, as well as some international dishes. The bar is well-stocked and has a good selection of Polish, European, and American beers and liquor. It is located across from the TGI Fridays (which is not worth the stop) on the main street through downtown Gdansk. The burgers and chicken sandwiches are served with fries and are tasty. They have a full menu of Irish fare. The Polish food was delicious. Traditional and full-flavored, the Kielbasa was some of the best we found in the north. The weekly crowd was mostly working-class locals with a few scattered tourists, but the weekend crowds were college-aged, casually dressed, loud, and fun-loving. Many spoke English and were happy to converse with us and give us ideas of things to see and do.
Another great thing about this place is that every taxi driver (English-speaking or not) knows how to get there, and even after closing time, taxis are on the corner, waiting. Scruffy Murphy's is a favorite of mine, and I really recommend stopping in for a pint and a burger.
