Mr. Murrell, the owner, wanted his restaurant to have a real Southern feel. When he first opened, he planted some cotton plants out front for the ambience. A few years later, an official from the Florida agriculture dept. informed him that it was illegal to grow cotton for any reason other than production. Mr. Murrell was miffed by the silly law, and the nerve of the official who stayed for lunch.
I can't blame him for staying. For $7 patrons treat themselves to a real country style buffet. The buffet features entrées like meatloaf, barbeque ribs, and fried chicken. Among side dishes are fried okra, mashed taters, and black-eyed peas.
As you are seated your party is presented with a bowl of peanuts to share between trips to the buffet.
