The Bistro is a perfect place for a mid-morning snack, lunch or an afternoon ice cream. It is located just in front of the swimming pool and has many tables in the shaded area where you could plant yourself and "veg-out".
You can order the Aussie-version of a hamburger - minced beef patty on a very large bun with lettuce, tomato, shredded carrots and sliced pickled beets - YES – I said beets. There are also large slices of cucumber that are lightly pickled - not at all like hamburger dills, but tasty nevertheless. Or, you can order a chicken or tuna salad. The Aussies love to "build" salads - starting with a large plate filled with lettuce, then piled high with chicken or tuna, layers of chips, more veggies until it resembles a six-inch high mountain. And, of course, you can always order fish and chips - a main staple on any menu in Australia. French fries were a very popular snack item. There were a variety of cold fruit drinks, sodas, and beer.
My personal favorite was afternoon ice cream. After a hard day of reef walking, snorkeling, or bird watching, nothing hit the spot like an ice cream cone - and the Bistro has so many different varieties, flavors and combinations I had never seen before and I tried my best to experience everyone.
The nice thing about the Bistro is that you could charge everything to your account, as most guests are in swimsuits or very casual clothes and do not carry wallets or purses.
The prices at the Bistro are very reasonable - you can get a nice lunch with a drink for about $5.00 US Dollars.
