Snapper's is an amazing place, right on the water just south of Key Largo (Mile Marker 40). It has everything you would expect from a "Key's Style" eating spot... water, boats, music, great food, and fully stocked bar! Snapper's is a great place to go for a late lunch, about 4 pm. After a long day of sport fishing or diving, everyone needs a cool refreshment and some great food. They have wonderful lunch prices ($10 for a typical full mean with sides), with the same food as dinner, before the actual dinner prices at 5pm. Plus, as an added free bonus, you get to watch all the local fishing boats come in with their catch of the day. Snappers is adjacent to a small marina and attracts loads of maritime sailers, charter boat fishermen, and vacationing divers. They have a cute little bar (separate from the main dining area) on the built directly on the dock. It's not uncommon to have see several boats showing off the days catch, while you are eating some great sea food, listening to Jimmy Buffet sung by a local musician, all even as you watch the afternoon sun glisten off the Atlantic ocean.
If you go to Snappers, you must sample the conch fritters (a Carribean meat ball of sorts), most places have them, but Snappers are the best and only about $5 for the appetizer! When my wife and I go to the Keys (about once a year) we try the fritters at every new restaurant we visit. It's become kind of a game with us, comparing them to the others we've had.
If you are on your way to Islamorada, Marathon, or anywhere South of Key Largo on highway 1, make the stop at Snapper's you might just decide to stick around for a while.
