Heladeria Coromoto is one of the world's few ice cream shops that qualifies as a tourist attraction in its own right. The Portuguese owner has developed over 900 flavors of ice cream, dozens and dozens of which are available on any given day. A whole wall is needed to list them all. (Another wall is filled with newspaper clippings about the store and pictures of visitors from around the world.)
In addition to the typical fruits, nuts and sweets, you can try ice cream that tastes like tuna, hot dogs, cheese, beer, and many more. We found that the more bizarre flavors weren't really all that delicious, but they make a terrific ron y pasas (rum raisin)!
There are some sandwiches to go, but most people simply come for the ice cream - long lines wind out to the street at times but move pretty quickly.
Prices are typical for ice cream stores.
