With the exception of a display board with the name 'Pizzeria Milano' on it, there's nothing to indicate that inside is occupied by one of the best eateries in town. Take the half dozen steps towards the main entrance that opens into a medium-sized anteroom leading towards the huge restaurant. Once inside, you'll notice that the atmosphere is one of keep-on partying with non-stop recorded Italian jazz and pop music. Although the restaurant caters for about 400 people, it is often difficult to find a table showing the popularity this restaurant enjoys among both locals and tourists.
The extensive menu is geared mostly towards Italian fare although numerous salads and various dishes of grilled food are also included. More than 20 varieties of pizza and a wide assortment of pasta dishes are available. Their big 'Pizza Milano' with mushrooms, ham and parmeggiano cheese is delicious and filling. Better and tastier is their dish of cannelloni stuffed with ricotta, spinach and feta cheese and topped with a delicious thick tomato sauce. Or why don't you try their mouth-watering Italian-style 'torta', a pastry pie stuffed with a thick meat and pea stew? The fact that all dishes are prepared by Italian cooks and supervised by an Italian chef is one reason why everything at Pizzeria Milano is top-class. Add to this the friendly waiters who go out of their way to make your dining experience the best possible and you will understand why Pizzeria Milano is always crowded with customers.
Numerous wine varieties mostly imported from Italy are available. You can also choose from three brands of beer on tap costing no more than 8 litas (US$2) per litre or from 12 brands of imported bottled beer. End up your meal with a delicious slice of Italian-style almond and hazelnut pie topped with caramel sauce and panna. Opt for a free espresso or cappuccino.
Pizzeria Milano takes first prize for food, service and ambience; second prize for location which is unadvertised and so somewhat difficult to find. However, for its cheap and affordable prices, Pizzeria Milano has to be strongly recommended.
Opens daily from 8am to 1am.
