Restaurante Cafe Santa Fe
A selection of imported cheeses, wines, and meats contribute to a fine menu at this expensive Italian restaurant. I cannot comment on the pastas or entrees, as we did not indulge in either.
The host took about 10 minutes to greet us, as there was a large lunch crowd, most likely due to the busy season we were contributing to. Café Santa Fe is decorated with a mix of Baja and Italian furniture; the center courtyard is covered with a palapa roof while the open kitchen has classic Italian black and white tiling.
For our lunch meal, we ordered salads and pizzas to cut down on the expense. The salads range from $15 to $20 and a pizza for four runs from $18 to $25. If we had gone with the pasta or entrees, we were looking at a $22 minimum per person for the most basic of pastas.
The Greek salad consisted of sliced tomatoes covered in Greek olives and crumbled cheese, and was anointed in olive oil and vinegar. Very fresh and the cheese was of a perfect consistency and flavor to compliment the olives.
The antipasti plate was comprised of prosciutto, melon, salami, a creamy goat cheese, provolone, and another soft cheese. There were a few other meats on the plate, but each one was good and matched each cheese.
Last we had our pizza—and this truly was a fine gourmet pizza! California Pizza Kitchen tastes like Domino's in comparison to the pizza here—and to have a pizza this good in Baja was also a surprise.
