The water from Summit Lake is a beautiful aqua color, formed from a now-defunct glacier. The lodge, which sits right on the banks of the lake, has overnight accomodations and offers dining service all day. Lunch was the meal of choice this day. Having had halibut every day while in Alaska, I was not disappointed with my dill-and-herb-baked halibut sandwich. The fresh halibut on a good French roll was hot and tasty. There was an extensive halibut, salmon, and burger menu for lunch with salad offerings.
Summit Lake Lodge's brochure indicates that the lodge was hand-built from timber native to the land. The dining room of the lodge is rustic, with exposed beams and the log-cabin look. A very short hop down the trail to the lake presents a nice scenic place to rest if on the way to someplace.
