We have returned to the King's Head again and again for the atmosphere, the ale and the food. The King's Head looks like most any moderately old pub from the road, and it carries and excellent pub atmosphere inside complete with real fire, beamed ceiling, dark wood bar and cozy decor. A menu board stretches across the wall opposite the bar with a large variety of standard and changing menu items ranging from fresh sardines to pasta. The food is good, and the staff and owners make your feel at home like one of the regulars. My vote for favorite traditional English beer goes to the Timothy Taylor Landlord...much more flavor than blander ales and bitters typically offer. This is a great place to linger for a conversation. You may even be joined for a lively discussion of the relative merits of the British versus US approaches to electing our leaders!
