Carrabba's Italian Grill

The girls wanted to go to the restaurant ‘with the funny stuff on top’– it had vegetation growing from it’s roof! We were hungry so we went to check it out.

When we came by there were no parking spaces available close to the entrance, so my daughter ran in and put our names on the list and brought a menu out (so we could see if it fit in our budget). It not only appeared to fit in our limited budget, but looked delicious! She also brought out a pager, so we would know when a table was available. We parked on the far side of the building, and I went in to ask if the pager would work that far away (not really far) and was told that it would not, so I went back to the vehicle – as I reached it, the pager went off!

The meal started off with fresh bread (so hot one of the girls slightly burned her hand -- she was one of the exchange students and was not expecting such hot bread, none of the rest of us had any problem) and a wonderful mix of olive oil and herbs! My mouth still waters at the thought!

Our waiter advised us that the ‘standard Italian’ dishes (spaghetti, etc) were not what to order (his roommate loved them, but he knew they were not the best that the restaurant had to offer!), but even taking his advice in mind we were far from limited in our choices! I honestly cannot remember what each of us ordered – know one pizza, one Pasta Carrabba, but not sure about the other two. We dove into our own, and each other’s! None of us finished our meal – it was abundant. We all complained to each other that we really wanted to keep eating, it was so good, but just didn’t think we could swallow another bite! The girls had soft drinks and I ordered a non-alcoholic beer, which was served with a frosted mug.

Just writing this makes my mouth water! I used their locator feature on their website and found that there is one in Raleigh (I live in Chapel Hill), much as I can’t see driving to Raleigh just for a meal I am thinking of going there right now, in the hopes that they are as good as the one in Wilmington!

Our bill came out to less than $60 (not including the tip) for four of us –this included my ‘drinks’. A heck of a deal for a meal we all walked away from raving about (and still makes my mouth water!).
