Extraordinary Experience

I attended a dinner here together with 15 adults and 15 children on 22 April 2008. I and two of my friends were Irish. The remainder represented 6 European countries engaged in a funded European educational project hosted in Tartu.

A friend from Germany ordered the Ottoman lamb dish and was astonished and shocked to find that the meat was rancid and tasted of mould. He spat out what he had eaten, asked confirmation of his experience from his Irish wife and then called the waitress to point out the problem. The plate was taken away without a word and later, much later, our friend was asked if he would like a replacement. Others of us were annoyed at this stage and asked to see a supervisor or manager. We pointed out that no apology or responsibility was taken by the Wilde Irish restaurant despite the fact that a huge amount of business was given to the place by our pre-boked group that evening. Our friend was offered a free drink from the bar. He refused.

Others of us, embarrassed for him (it was his birthday!) and annoyed at how his mild protest was treated decided to demand that he should get the money for his bill returned. This was eventually handed to him with bad grace by the young waitress without a word of apology.

If this happened in Ireland it would be a feature in the newspapers next day. Furthermore the restaurant would have a visit from the Ministry of Health,

I could not give a low enough rating to this establishment for its appalling and extraordinary failure in basic customer relations.
Its food at best is acceptable. At worst - poisonous. Beware.

Wilde Irish

Wilde Irish pub consists of a cafeteria, pub, and restaurant. All the parts are different but still have the same style. The atmosphere is cosy, and there are paintings, books, and shelves full of small things. The cafeteria offers a good range of lighter meals, cakes, and hot drinks. The pub is much a like a real Irish pub. And the restaurant, which is located at the winter garden, serves a good variety of meals. Great service. Terraces open in the summertime.
